Make a difference this International Womens Day

This International Women’s Day you can make a tangible difference to the livelihood of women in our community.

Women are more likely to experience hidden homelessness which means they are more likely to live in unstable accommodation, refuges, sleep on trains or other less visible places rather than more visible rough sleeping. This means the true scale of women’s homelessness is unknown.

Often women become homeless through fleeing abuse, with the vulnerability of rough sleeping making them susceptible to further abuse in the future.

Across services and refuge, Julian House provides person-centric care to ensure that each client receives a non-judgmental, supportive setting.

Art as a means of expression

As a celebration of International Women’s Day, Julian House is involved in two exhibitions featuring art, paintings and poetry from women staying in our domestic abuse refuges. Both exhibitions are free to attend and walk-ins are encouraged.

The Next Chapter:

The Next Chapter is an empowering showcase of artwork, paintings, and poetry created by women who have experienced domestic abuse. Presented in a collaborative style, this exhibition is coordinated by Wiltshire Council and includes the artwork of Wiltshire based charities including Julian House, FearFree, Green Square Accord, Nelson Trust and Collaborative Digital.
