James works in our Assertive Outreach team in Exeter, he talks here about some of the clients he has worked with along the way.
“We see people transform their lives. They can go from being homeless, having not washed, being very chaotic and unhappy, emotionally agitated and antisocial. Then through positive engagement, better housing options and drug and alcohol support, these people’s lives can be transformed and they can go from someone who was an outcast to someone who is leading a normal life in many respects.”
“I’ve seen that transformation for myself. I’ve met people who were extremely unwell and now you wouldn’t be able to tell that they have had such a difficult experience. They’ve become a fuller person and are thriving. When you see that it’s incredibly uplifting. That’s what we are all working for.”
