We may not be able to get out and about like normal leading up to Christmas this year, and to counterbalance that local charity Julian House is hosting a series of festive themed virtual workshops to boost community spirits and get everyone involved.
The Christmas workshops, which include crafts, fitness and culture, will take place online from November 28th – December 20th and will see numerous local organisations donating their time and skills to host a workshop for everyone to enjoy. From a Christmas themed quiz hosted by comedian Dr Phil Hammond and Bootcamp workouts with Zita Alves to bake-offs with local business Sugarcane Studio and wreath making with Bohemian Blooms, the finale event will be a Christmas Choir show, showcasing choirs from across the South West.
The donations raised by those taking part will go towards supporting extremely vulnerable men and women who this year face the double threat of COVID and plunging winter temperatures out on the streets. With the public’s donation and support, Julian House can ensure it’s there to support individuals during this difficult time.
Jessica Gay, Senior Community and Event Fundraiser at Julian House said: “This year has been challenging for everyone, not least those in our care. While many of us are looking forward to Christmas, it will be different and quieter. We hope these virtual workshops will go some way in bringing people together and lifting spirits – all for a good cause.”
The workshops are open to everyone and members of the public can sign up online here.
