About Us

Julian House’s purpose is

  • to eradicate the need for rough sleeping
  • to enable those who are homeless and those who are vulnerable and at risk of homelessness to establish sustainable homes and lifestyles
  • to empower all users of its services to achieve their fullest potential

At its foundation Julian House was set up to try and offer direct support to some of the most marginalised people in society – the homeless. Initially this was limited to offering a bed for night and some food. Over time other projects and services have been developed which not only address the symptoms of homelessness but also the underlying reasons why men and women are forced onto the streets. Indeed, projects such as the Community Support Team are targeted at preventing people becoming homeless.

Today the charity operates 10 main projects at 6 different sites in and around Bath. At any one time over 100 clients are being helped by the staff team – men and women who are homeless, have recently been homeless or who are at risk of becoming homeless.

The work is often challenging and the staff work under considerable pressure but many positive outcomes are achieved.
